No, you do not need to log into your Library account to access e-resources, even though the 'Sign in' button in Library Search is on the top right-hand corner on search results pages, as in the picture below -
Signing into Library accounts does not enable you to access e-resources as it does not authenticate you as a UoB user. Signing into library accounts only enables you to view your print loans, ILL requests etc.
You authenticate as a UoB user when you click on the resource links in Library Search themselves ('View e-book' etc.), for example see the 'view eBook' button in the image below -
