Why is it cold in the Arts and Social Sciences Library?

The Arts and Social Sciences Library does not have air conditioning, but it does have air circulation which can feel cold at times. Unfortunately we cannot control this because the air circulation is needed to comply with Health and Safety guidelines relating to adequate ventilation of spaces.

Please also be aware that as part of the University's sustainability objectives, the heating systems across the university are in a seasonal shut down mode and cannot be switched on locally.

We do apologise for any inconvenience this causes, and ask that you let a member of staff know if you are experiencing discomfort as we may be able to offer a portable heater. Please note, the loan of heaters is dependent on supply and borrowed heaters must be switched off and returned to the Enquiry Desk after use.
