Why is my account blocked? How many notifications do I receive for an overdue book?

The number of automatic notifications you should be receiving for each 7-day loan is 4, with the first one being an email informing you that the item has been recalled.

Here is the order in which notifications are sent out to you once an item is recalled:

  1. Item is requested by someone else. The auto-renewal fails, and you will receive your first email notification, giving you 7 days to return the item.
  2. After one week you will receive another email notification informing you that your account is blocked.
  3. Further notifications are triggered as the account block prevents other items from renewing.
  4. After three weeks the original requested item automatically becomes ‘Long Overdue’. You will then receive a final automated notification informing you that we will contact you with invoice details.
